Our Society At A Glance

Surrey Reptile and Amphibian Society was formed in December 2012, by a group of like minded individuals, each with a passion for reptiles and amphibians.

Our Aim as a society is to:

  • Become well known with the UK as a valid and reputable organisation for the benefit of the hobby.
  • Provide a forum for reptile keepers both experienced and novice, to share information on the subject of reptile and amphibian husbandry.
  • Improve and uphold the standards of welfare within the herpetological community, through the practice of good husbandry, breeding and trading by supporting both ethical private breeders and reputable retailers. The welfare of reptiles and amphibians has largely becomes a matter of self-regulation within the community, which SRAS intends to uphold.
  • Host events and meetings within the county of Surrey.

A copy of our full constitution and policy can be found here

As a non profit society any money raised are re-invested into the society. Funds never go to a proprietor nor as a salary.

Over the past few years SRAS has become well recognised within the herpetological community and continues to expand.

We are affiliated with the Federation of British Herpetologists (FBH)

We received an IHS award for advancing knowledge within the hobby in 2015 and were nominated for society of the year in 2013 for the reptile report reader choice
