HOW TO QUALIFY
How SRAS qualification works, from eligibility to current status.
The process is the same for every level of SRAS qualification. What changes between levels is the depth of evidence, the depth of the learning route, and the depth of the assessment.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
How qualification is awarded.
SRAS qualification follows a structured process. Applicants choose the level that reflects their work, submit the required information, complete the learning route and are assessed against the published standard.
01
ELIGIBILITY
Select a route
Review the Foundation, Professional and Senior Routes and select the option that most closely reflects your current role, responsibility and experience.
02
ENQUIRY
Submit initial information
Complete the initial eligibility form. No payment or identity documentation is required at this stage.
03
REVIEW
Confirm eligibility and assessment scope
SRAS reviews your professional background, production experience and proposed route, then confirms the professional role, animal group and level of responsibility against which you would be assessed.
04
LEARNING
Complete required learning
Following eligibility approval and confirmed enrolment, complete the learning requirements and preparation specified for your route through the SRAS learner portal.
05
ASSESSMENT
Demonstrate knowledge and competence
Complete the relevant combination of knowledge assessment, scenario work, portfolio evidence, professional references, structured interview and practical competence review. Outcomes are issued in writing.
06
STATUS
Award and current registration
Successful candidates receive the relevant SRAS award and status record with a verification reference. An SRAS award is not a statutory licence or guarantee of work. While the public verification service is being developed, appropriate status enquiries can be made through the SRAS office.
07
ACTIVE STATUS
Maintain current status
Active status depends on completing the published renewal, continuing-professional-development and conduct requirements for the relevant route. A lapsed, suspended or withdrawn status must not be presented as current. Verification arrangements may change as the public service is introduced.
APPLY FOR QUALIFICATION
Apply for SRAS qualification.
Submit an eligibility enquiry for the route that reflects your current work. Suitable applicants receive written confirmation of scope, enrolment arrangements, fees and next steps before payment is requested.
