PRIVACY NOTICE

How SRAS handles personal information.

Screen Ready Animal Standards (SRAS) is responsible for the personal information it uses for its website, applications, assessments, renewals, status records, enquiries and complaints. Questions or data-protection requests can be sent to office@sras.org.uk. This notice explains the information used, the reasons for using it and the choices available to you.

1. Information we collect

Depending on your relationship with SRAS, information may include your name, contact details, identity and eligibility evidence, professional history, references, application and assessment material, payment records, correspondence, reasonable-adjustment information you choose to provide, complaint or conduct records, status history, and technical website or cookie information. Please provide only information relevant to the stated purpose.

2. Purposes and lawful bases

SRAS uses information to respond to enquiries; assess eligibility and evidence; administer learning, assessment, awards and renewals; take payment; maintain status and audit records; prevent misuse; handle complaints and appeals; improve services; protect legal rights; and meet legal obligations. Depending on the activity, the lawful basis may be steps toward or performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation, consent, or the establishment and defence of legal claims. SRAS does not sell personal information or use solely automated decision-making to award status.

3. Recipients and international processing

Information is shared only where reasonably necessary with authorised assessors or reviewers, professional referees you identify, payment and website providers, advisers, regulators or authorities, and others where disclosure is legally required or necessary to protect rights or welfare. Providers must handle information for agreed purposes. Where a provider processes information outside the UK, SRAS will use an appropriate transfer safeguard where required.

4. Retention and security

Information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, the relevant relationship with SRAS, status verification, complaints or appeals, financial and insurance records, safeguarding, dispute handling and legal obligations. Retention periods vary by record type. SRAS uses proportionate organisational and technical measures, but no internet service can promise absolute security.

5. Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your information; object to certain processing; receive portable information; and withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful use. Some rights have lawful exceptions. Contact office@sras.org.uk to make a request. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
